Awernica is an independent digital platform for exploring, comparing and organizing information about security technology.

Awernica is operated by Grovan Tech, a sole proprietorship registered in Norway under organization number 838 449 182.

Grovan Tech is the data controller for personal information processed in connection with user accounts, subscriptions and the operation of the Awernica platform.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal information when you visit our website, create an account or use our services.

Depending on how you use Awernica, we may process the following categories of information:

• Account information, including email address, user identifiers and account preferences.
• Authentication information required to provide secure access to your account.
• Subscription and billing information associated with paid services.
• Information you choose to register in your Workspace, including system names, product models and associated technical information.
• Technical information necessary for operating, maintaining and securing the platform.
• Information submitted through support requests or other direct communications.

We do not require direct access to your physical security systems to provide our product information and comparison services.

We process information for purposes including:

• Creating and maintaining user accounts.
• Providing access to subscribed services and Workspace features.
• Storing and presenting information registered by users.
• Managing subscriptions, payments and customer relationships.
• Responding to support requests and service inquiries.
• Maintaining the security, reliability and functionality of the platform.
• Complying with applicable legal obligations.

Personal information is processed on the basis of applicable data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Depending on the purpose, processing may be necessary for performing a contract, complying with legal obligations or pursuing legitimate interests related to operating and securing the service.

Where consent is required, we will request it before carrying out the relevant processing.

Awernica allows users to register and organize information about security systems, products and associated technical infrastructure.

Workspace information is associated with the relevant user account or Workspace and is processed to provide the requested services.

Users should avoid registering unnecessary personal information or sensitive information that is not required for the intended use of the service.

Information about security infrastructure may be commercially or operationally sensitive even when it does not constitute personal information.

Access to registered information is subject to the access controls and sharing permissions available within the platform.

Awernica offers the Android apps Spec Search and Camera Compare. Both require an Awernica account and use the same account and data as the website.

• Signing in sends your email address and password to our authentication provider (Supabase). The app keeps the resulting session on your device so you stay signed in.
• Spec Search downloads public product data and searches it on your device. Your requirements, reference cameras and results stay on the device and are not stored with your account.
• Camera Compare requests the product data of the cameras you choose to compare. The selection is not stored with your account.
• The apps do not access your location, contacts, camera, microphone or files, and contain no advertising or third-party analytics or tracking.
• The apps do not access or store information from your Workspace.

You can delete your account and its data from Account in either app, under Account & Settings on the website, or as described on Delete your account.

Awernica uses external technology providers to operate and maintain the platform.

These providers may process information necessary to deliver their respective services, subject to applicable contractual and data protection requirements.

Where personal information is transferred outside the European Economic Area, applicable data protection requirements and transfer safeguards must be observed.

Awernica uses cookies and similar technologies where necessary to provide authentication, maintain user sessions and support essential platform functionality.

Awernica measures use of public pages without cookies. Our own measurement records page views and aggregated interactions, such as catalog searches and clicks on documentation or plan links. It does not store account IDs, IP addresses or browser details, and search text that looks like personal or sensitive information is discarded.

We also use Vercel Web Analytics to count visitors and page views on public pages. It does not use cookies. Vercel recognises a visit through a short-lived hash of the request rather than a stored identifier. Only the page path is sent; query strings are removed, and signed-in areas such as the workspace, account and admin pages are excluded.

Neither form of measurement runs when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals. We do not use marketing or advertising trackers. Any such technology, if introduced, will be described in this policy and handled in accordance with applicable consent requirements.

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services, fulfill applicable contractual obligations and comply with legal requirements.

Account information and records required for legal, accounting or security purposes may be retained for different periods.

Information contained in backups may remain for a limited period following deletion from active systems.

Account Settings provides deletion of an individual site, all owned Workspace data, or the account itself when self-service deletion is enabled. Shared sites require explicit resolution of ownership and collaborator access first. Account deletion ends active paid subscriptions immediately and does not automatically issue a refund. Financial records required by an approved retention policy are separated from operational account data. Contact support if self-service deletion is unavailable or if your personal information occurs in another user’s documents or free text.

The configured backup expiry window is up to 1 days. Minimal hashed deletion markers are retained for 97 days after completion to prevent restoration of access through delayed events. Accounting records follow the retention period assigned to their record type, measured through the end of the applicable calendar year.

Awernica is designed with consideration for the confidential nature of security infrastructure information.

We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure and loss.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. Users should protect their account credentials and avoid sharing access with unauthorized persons.

Subject to applicable data protection legislation, you may have the right to:

• Request access to your personal information.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of personal information.
• Request restriction of certain processing activities.
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Request data portability where applicable.
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
