About this tool
What it does
Describe what a camera must do, and Spec Search returns the catalog cameras that meet it. Requirements can be set on about 38 specification fields in seven groups:
- Type: camera type and video signal.
- Optics: horizontal and vertical field of view, lens type and remote zoom.
- Image: resolution, frame rate, WDR and minimum illumination.
- Illumination: IR range, built-in IR and white light range.
- Environment: IP and IK rating, operating temperature and specific test standards.
- Power: maximum power.
- Features: PTZ, audio, I/O ports, local storage, AI analytics, thermal and multi-sensor.
Results are split into:
- Confirmed matches: every requirement is met with known data.
- Possible matches: nothing fails, but data is missing for at least one requirement. Missing data is shown as "Data unavailable" and never treated as unsupported.
When there are only a few matches, Spec Search suggests which requirements to relax to find more.
Who it is for
Installers, consultants and buyers who need an alternative to a given camera, want every model that meets a tender specification, or want to compare options across brands.
How to use it
1. Open Spec Search from the Tools page, or choose Find similar cameras on a camera's product page.
2. Optionally pick a reference camera. Its values are copied in as requirements.
3. Add, change or remove requirements.
4. Narrow the results with free text, a model or series filter, a choice of manufacturers, or the option to include discontinued products.
5. Sort the results, then open a product, choose Add to site or Add to plan, or select 2 to 4 cameras and choose Compare to open them in Camera Compare.
Your search is kept in the page link, so you can go back to it or share it.
Good to know
- Spec Search covers cameras only.
- Results depend on the specifications Awernica has collected, so many matches may be "possible" because data is missing.
- The Exclude NDAA-listed & Chinese-origin option filters by brand. Always check each product's own NDAA statement.
- Manufacturers you have hidden in Account & Settings are left out of the search.
- Add to plan requires Equipment Plan. With Replacement Planning, you can also choose a result as a replacement.
